The Staff
Stuart Mennell was appointed Clerk in May 2002. He works part time
(mornings) Monday to Friday. Stuart previously worked as a Director
at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich and prior to that in the
Civil Service.
Diane Scrivener assists Stuart in the office part-time and undertakes
a wide range of administrative tasks.   Diane has previously worked
in London form many years mainly in financial services institutions.
Dave Abrams joined the Parish in 2007 as our Groundsman as the successor
to Brian Jay who retired at the end of March. Dave has many years experience
as an agricultural engineer and has a keen interest in the natural world
and green issues. He was born and bred in Hawkwell and still lives in
the parish.
Les Noad retired as our bus shelter maintenance man at the end of 2006
after almost 40 years of service to the Parish – a remarkable
achievement in anyone’s eyes, we wish Les and Doreen well for
the future. A new bus shelter cleaning contract was tendered and JVS
Cleaning Services Ltd were successful. We look forward to a good working
relationship with Jason and his team.
When does the mobile library visit Hawkwell?
The mobile library van visits fortnightly on a Tuesday :
- August: 10th & 24th
- September: 7th & 21st
- October: 5th & 19th
- November: 2nd 16th & 30th
- December 14th

Where is the Village Hall?
Hawkwell Village Hall is situated on the B1013 between Hawkwell Park
Drive and Thorpe Road. The Booking Officer contact number is 01702 201484 and we will be pleased
to talk to your about booking the hall.
Ashingdon and East Hawkwell Memorial Hall is suituated along the Ashingdon
Road towards St Martin's chruch.
What facilities does Hawkwell have?
Hawkwell has 2 parks Magnolia situated on Rectory Road and Spencers
Park situated off Thorpe Road.   Magnolia has a recreation area
and a nature reserve, Spencers is a natural area given over to wild
flower for peacefull reflection and walks. In addition the council
has a small childrens play area in Elizabeth Close.   The District
Council provide a large childrens recreation area on Hawkwell common
situated next to the White Hart Pub in the B1013
